Digital euro passes European Parliament’s first hurdle
Economic and monetary committee’s rapporteur says CBDC will ‘never replace’ cash
The European Parliament’s committee on economic and monetary affairs has given the digital euro the green light.
The committee approved the “establishment of the digital euro” with 43 votes in favour, 14 against and one abstention within the “single currency package”, it announced in a press release today (June 23).
