Brics in talks to link CBDCs and payments, says RBI governor

The Brics group of emerging market economies is discussing linking their instant payments systems and central bank digital currencies, the governor of the Reserve Bank of India said today (August 11).

“Cross-border payments is an area of interest ​for all of us, including the Brics, because we ⁠feel there is a lot of scope for reducing cost,” Sanjay Malhotra said at an event in Mumbai.
