Kazakhstan’s CBDC pilot enters second phase
Central bank to examine how digital tenge could be used to reduce corruption in public spending
The National Bank of Kazakhstan on July 18 announced the second phase of its central bank digital currency (CBDC) pilot, which is aimed at tracking government expenditure and preventing the misappropriation of funds.
In its statement, the central bank said it was working with the government and the national anti-corruption agency on several projects related to the pilot. These will focus on the use of the CBDC in spending on agriculture, construction and direct financial support. The government
