Australia’s central bank invites CBDC proposals

The Reserve Bank of Australia is inviting market participants to submit business plans for a central bank digital currency, or eAUD, paving the way for a pilot early next year.

The research project, first announced in August, is jointly run by the RBA and the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre, a government-funded industry group.
