Bank of Jamaica announces prototype CBDC partner

Irish firm eCurrency Mint will provide technology that connects with central bank’s RTGS system

The Bank of Jamaica has chosen Irish firm eCurrency Mint to provide the technology for its prototype central bank digital currency (CBDC).  

The CBDC pilot will take place between May and December this year, the central bank announced on March 23.

 “eCurrency Mint is a global thought leader and pioneer of the hardware, software and cryptographic security protocol technology,” the Bank of Jamaica said.
