ECB's Issing says rise in inflation is worrying

The oil-driven increase in Eurozone inflation is worrying because it could drive up inflationary expectations, European Central Bank chief economist Otmar Issing said in an interview that was published on Wednesday 19 October.

"Under the influence of strongly rising oil prices, especially for refined products like gasoline, inflation has jumped to 2.5 percent. That is worrying as expectations for future inflation can perhaps get caught on a higher level," Issing told the Finnish newspaper Hufv
