Maltese prosecutor charges central bank governor with fraud

Prosecutors in Malta have charged the country’s central bank governor with criminal offences over his conduct while he was finance minister.

Prosecutors filed documents in court charging Central Bank of Malta governor Edward Scicluna with fraud and misappropriation of public funds, several newspapers said. They also charged Malta’s deputy prime minister Chris Fearne, three current or former senior civil servants and six lawyers with fraud.
