Strengthen dollar or face "economic war": Sarkozy

Nicolas Sarkozy, France's president, has told American politicians that the dollar must appreciate in order to avoid an "economic war" between the United States and the eurozone.

Speaking at a joint session of the United States Congress on Wednesday, Sarkozy said: "The dollar cannot remain someone else's problem. If we are not careful monetary disarray could morph into economic war."
