Kazakhstan establishes crypto portfolio in reserves
Central bank says it could spend “up to” $300m from gold and FX income
The National Bank of Kazakhstan is establishing a crypto portfolio in its reserves.
The central bank’s governor, Timur Suleimenov, told journalists at a briefing on November 28 that the bank was setting aside $300 million from its gold and foreign exchange reserves to invest in the assets.
Suleimenov said the bank was “not rushing into any ill-considered decisions”, and had created the “legal and infrastructural framework” that would enable it “to act when needed” once it had completed “thorough
