Peru holds rates for eleventh time in a row
BCRP highlights risk of escalating conflict in Middle East and more severe El Niño on inflation
The Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) has held its benchmark interest rate at 4.25% for the eleventh consecutive meeting.
In a statement on August 13, the bank’s board said global risks had recently moderated due to a return to relative normalcy in oil and gas markets. “Nevertheless, uncertainty regarding the outcome of the negotiations in the Middle East persists, adding to other geopolitical and commercial risks,” the board said in its statement accompanying the decision.
