BNM holds policy and points to positive economic outlook
Malaysian central bank keeps rates at 2.75% and expects domestic growth momentum to continue
Malaysia’s central bank kept its benchmark policy rate unchanged today (January 22) and provided a positive forecast for the country’s economy, notwithstanding some external risks.
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) said its monetary policy committee had decided to maintain its benchmark policy rate at 2.75%. A majority of economists (29 of 32) polled by Reuters ahead of the decision had correctly predicted that it would keep rates unchanged.
