People: BIS appoints RBA’s Lowe to succeed Dudley on financial system committee

Basel, Switzerland: Philip Lowe, governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, has been appointed the chairman of the Bank for International Settlements’ Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS).

He will take over from William Dudley, who has just retired as president of the New York Federal Reserve. Dudley served as chair of the committee from January 2012. Lowe will serve for a period of three years.

A career central banker, Lowe was appointed governor in September 2016, having joined
