Croatian central bank website cloned in scam operation
Fabricated “national financial access programme” offers fake handouts
The Croatian National Bank (HNB) has warned that its entire website has been cloned by scammers.
The bank issued a press release on August 10 warning that a new website had appeared promoting a “national financial access programme”.
The fraud operation invites a maximum of 500 citizens from each county to deposit a minimum of €250 ($288) into a pool which is allegedly bolstered by €2 billion by the Croatian state. The website was taken down by the time Central Banking attempted to access it.
