Deputy governor calls for ‘holistic’ system involving stablecoins, CBDCs, tokenisation and cash
Stablecoins are expected to strengthen dollar dominance and cause more people around the world to finance US debt, a deputy governor of the Bank of Japan has said.
In a speech on May 16, Ryozo Himino surveyed approaches to developing the future monetary system and advocated a “holistic” approach that would focus on more than stablecoins and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). He said it was clear the US had prioritised the former when it passed the Guiding and Establishing National
