Hong Kong to explore stablecoin use cases with Malaysia

Monetary authorities also agree to co-operate on tokenisation and local currency use

Hong Kong and Malaysia will explore cross-border stablecoin usage as part of an agreement announced today (October 6) that will also see their monetary authorities co-operate on a range of financial initiatives.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) said it held a meeting with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) on October 2 during which both agreed to strengthen fintech and digital asset innovation as well as cross-border regulatory collaboration. The two authorities also agreed to promote mutual cross
