BoK governor expresses confidence in finance minister

Rhee’s comments follow apparent discord between bank and government over digital assets policy

The governor of the Bank of Korea has praised the new finance minister’s economic vision and his handling of trade negotiations during their first meeting since the latter took office.

Rhee Chang-yong met finance minister Koo Yoon-cheol at the central bank’s premises today (August 8), domestic media reported. Both men shook hands in front of gathered reporters before holding a private meeting with other ministers, two deputy governors and the head of the BoK’s research department.
