Mnuchin says Fed is organised with “sufficient independence”

The new US Treasury secretary has shown early support for Federal Reserve independence, in contrast to the criticism the central bank received throughout the campaign of president Donald Trump.

At his selection hearing on January 24, Steven Mnuchin received questions from senators regarding his view on the "benefits" of an independent central bank as well as "politicising decisions" made by the Fed's board of governors.
