Obama nominates Michigan professor to Fed board of governors

The Federal Reserve's board of governors could return to full capacity for the first time in almost two years, after US President Barack Obama nominated Kathryn Dominguez to fill the second of two vacancies yesterday (July 20).

Dominguez is a professor of public policy and economics at the University of Michigan and a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. She has also been a visiting scholar at several central banks across the globe.

Obama praised her "proven experience
