Bolivia nears $2.8bn IMF deal

Minister says country ‘days away’ from agreement on funding to strengthen central bank reserves

Bolivia is close to announcing a financing deal with the International Monetary Fund, according to the country’s finance minister.

On July 22, Gabriel Espinoza said in a radio interview that Bolivia and the IMF were “days away” from formally announcing a deal of between $2.5 billion and $2.8 billion, according to reporting from Bolivian newspaper El Deber.
