Zimbabwe inflation stats delayed by lack of goods

Zimbabwe's state statistics department said on Tuesday that inflation figures cannot be calculated because not enough consumer goods are available.

Moffat Nyoni, the director of the Central Statistical Office, told state media: "There are too many data gaps."

He added that some items in the inflation measure's basket of goods were unavailable. The Central Statistical Office was, he said, looking at new ways to come up with an adequate indicator of price changes.

Goods have been in short supply
