Fed's Mishkin to step down

Frederic Mishkin, a member of the Board of Governor of the Federal Reserve, will leave the central bank at the end of August to return to academic life.

A strong factor is Mishkin's decision to leave the central bank would have the fact that his two year leave of absense from Columbia University was comming to an end, implying that he would have to choose between staying on at the Fed and potentially losing his position at the Ivy League university in New York.
