Third of central banks set strategic plans on five-year horizons
Just one respondent implements planning on ad hoc basis
One in three central banks set their strategic plans on a five-year cycle, data from the Strategic Plan Benchmarks 2026 finds.
Among the 43 respondents with regular schedules, planning frequency ranges from one to five years, for an average of 3.8 years. Further analysis shows that the most common frequency is five years (32.5%). The least-used strategic planning frequency among respondents is two years (2.5%).
