Experts say allowing stablecoin issuance in mainland China unlikely to speed up yuan internationalisation
China’s top leadership could hold a meeting to discuss stablecoins by the end of this month, according to a report published today (August 21), though two experts say it is unlikely allowing the crypto assets to be issued would accelerate the internationalisation of the yuan.
According to the Reuters report, unnamed sources said the State Council – China’s cabinet – would discuss a plan to increase the use of Chinese yuan in global markets and create rules for domestic regulators. These measures
