Dollar remains king for now, says Tombini

BIS Americas chief tells Central Banking Autumn Meetings of lessons from events of past year

The dollar’s depreciation in recent months reflects changes in investors’ risk management, rather than a shift away from the greenback’s reserve currency status, the Bank for International Settlements’ chief representative for the Americas has said.

In a keynote speech today (November 19) at the Central Banking Autumn Meetings in Rio de Janeiro, Alexandre Tombini discussed the lessons policy-makers could learn from events and trends over the past year.
