RBNZ well prepared for anti-money laundering duties, says head of AML

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) is well prepared for a new anti-money laundering (AML) regime that will come into force at the end of this month, according to Rob Edwards, Reserve Bank manager for AML, licensing and investigations.

Speaking at an AML and countering terrorist financing conference in Wellington, Edwards said the Reserve Bank will oversee a small number of high-risk institutions such as registered banks. Other sections of the economy will be handled by the Department of
