Foreign central banks resume buying debt says Fed

Data released on Thursday 20 January by the Federal Reserve showed foreign central banks resumed buying US Treasuries in the latest week, but cut their agency holdings for a second week.

The Fed said its overall holdings of Treasury and agency debt kept for overseas central banks rose by $5.171 billion in the week ending 19 January.

The breakdown of custody holdings showed overseas central banks bought a net $9.10 billion of Treasuries. The figure more than made up for a fall the week before an
