Slovak exchange rate mechanism to change for EU

Slovakia has to change its exchange rate regime before joining the European Union, Slovak Finance Minister Brigita Schmoegnerova said on Feb 25. We may return to the fixed floating exchange rate which we left, following strong devaluation pressure, on 1 October 1998, said Schmoegnerova, returning from a meeting of EU candidate countries' finance ministers in Sofia.
