Japan toughens stance on Pakistan debt

JAPAN - Japan has said it is unlikely to ease Pakistan's debt burden any further unless the Islamabad government agrees to ban nuclear weapons tests.

The comments by a senior official indicated a tougher stance from Japan, which last week agreed to reschedule $550m of Pakistani debt to help shore up Islamabad's support for the US-led war on terrorism.
