# Fiji central bank doubles profit

The Reserve Bank of Fiji made a profit of over F$20m ($13.4m) last year, almost double the amount made in 2006.

Savenca Narube, the governor of the Reserve Bank, said: "The level of profit was a direct result of the higher level of foreign reserves and higher interest rates abroad. Foreign reserves stabilised in the second half of the year and ended 2007 at F$958.5m ($641.7m) from F$880.1m ($589.2m) at the end of 2006.
