Central Bank of Hungary to exhibit art collection
Works currently held in storage or on bank premises will be displayed in museums, governor says
Hungary’s central bank has said it will exhibit its art collection in 30 museums across the country.
The governor of the Central Bank of Hungary (MNB), Mihály Varga, told a press conference today (December 19) that artwork “belongs in museums, not in offices and storage facilities”. He said the MNB would therefore be allowing 1,422 contemporary paintings and other works of art to go on display.
“Without the public, artworks cannot fulfil the purposes for which they were created,” the governor said
