German economy grows slightly

GERMANY - Germany's economy grew slightly in the first quarter of 2002, pulling the country out of a mild recession, the country's central bank said Tuesday.

Europe's biggest economy grew by about 0.25 percent, compared with the final three months of last year, the Bundesbank said in its monthly report.

But it cautioned that growth was limited and the economy remained vulnerable, with the slight upturn having little impact on unemployment or manufacturing activity.
