Researcher says China should diversify reserves

A China-based researcher said in an interview published in the overseas edition of the People's Daily on Monday 30 October that China urgently needs to improve the management of its foreign exchange reserves by diversifying the holding to include natural resources.

Zhao Xijun, a finance professor with the Beijing-based China Renmin University, was quoted by the official paper as saying that China can use its foreign exchange reserves to import 'high-tech products and strategic (natural) resources
