Systemic banks prioritised in onsite inspections

Supervisors’ activities commonly include interviews, reviews and verifications

Supervisory bodies perform onsite inspections of systemically important banks more frequently than they do of lenders deemed to be non-systemic, data from the Supervision Benchmarks 2025 finds.

Most respondents (57.6%) conduct annual onsite inspections of systemic banks (higher-risk entities). More than a fifth (24.2%) carry out onsite inspections of systemic lenders less than once a year.
