Only 30% of central banks conduct non-bank stress-testing
Exercise tends to be less common in institutions with smaller financial stability teams
Central banks are less likely to carry out stress tests on non-bank financial institutions than on banks, the Financial Stability Benchmarks 2025 reveals.
Only three in 10 central banks (29.5%) conduct non-bank stress tests. A clear majority of respondents in the sample (95.7%) implement stress tests on banks. The share of central banks that take part in stress tests conducted by another supra-national regulator is 34.1% – a slight increase on the 32.4% recorded in the 2024 benchmark.
