One in 10 jurisdictions lack any deposit insurance fund
The coverage limit for deposit insurance schemes averages just over $50,000, data from the Financial Stability Benchmarks 2025 shows.
Forty central banks said they provided coverage limits, which are the maximum amounts payable to each depositor with an insured bank in the event of the lender’s insolvency. The average across jurisdictions is $51,679, with values ranging between $313 and $118,188. The data analysis also shows a median value of $39,969.
