Early comms involvement in policy raises effectiveness

Teams involved in earlier stages of policy report communications are more successful

Central banks that get involved earlier in the policy-making process rate their effectiveness more highly, data from Communications Benchmarks 2022 reveals. 

Similarly to last year’s benchmark, most officials said their comms teams are involved in the early stages of key policy decisions (45%). Central banks in this group also rated their own effectiveness most highly (5.35). 

Teams that get involved during policy meetings (21%), rated their overall performance as 5.3, on average. Those that
