Maurizio Trapanese

Maurizio Trapanese is director for international economics and relations in the Directorate General for Economics, Statistics and Research of the Bank of Italy. His responsibilities include research on international regulations in banking and finance, with particular reference to the issues related to the Financial Stability Board and the Group of 20. Previously, he worked in the Directorate General for Financial Supervision and Regulation, where he was the head of the division in charge of the international negotiations on prudential matters and financial architecture. He was a member of committees at the Eurosystem, European Union and at global levels, directly contributing to the finalisation of the post-financial crisis international standards and the EU single rule book in banking. He graduated from Bocconi University, Milan, and earned an MSc in economics at the UK’s University of Warwick.
