Thedéen remains positive about Basel III implementation

Basel Committee chair says reports of the death of global co-operation are ‘greatly exaggerated’

Erik Thedéen has insisted that Basel III’s implementation is “on track and entering its final stretch”, despite the challenges of increased geopolitical fragmentation.

Speaking on October 15 at the International Institute of Finance’s annual membership meeting in Washington, DC, the chair of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision said: “My message today is simple: the reports about the death of global co-operation are greatly exaggerated.”

Thedéen, who is also Sveriges Riksbank governor, said
