Central Bank of Brazil delays crypto transfers to fight fraud

The Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) issued new regulations on August 7 delaying the transfer of crypto assets worth more than $10,000 to prevent financial fraud.

Virtual assets, including stablecoins, are increasingly used to rapidly transfer funds obtained through scams, the central bank said. Flows abroad or to self-custodied wallets make prevention and recovery efforts difficult.

In the announcement, published in Brazilian on its website, the central bank said virtual asset service providers
