Schnabel to join IMF as financial counsellor
ECB official to step down early, creating another opening at the top of the bank
Isabel Schnabel is to join the International Monetary Fund as its chief financial economist, in a move that will see her depart early from the European Central Bank, setting off another contest for the bank’s top roles.
The IMF said in a statement today (September 24) that Schnabel would join the fund as financial counsellor and director of the monetary and capital markets department, starting on January 4.
“Isabel is a well-respected leader and communicator,” said IMF managing director Kristalina
