The Bank of Estonia’s supervisory board on October 28 elected Ülo Kaasik as a candidate to become its next governor. Kaasik is currently deputy governor of the central bank, where his responsibilities have included economic analysis and monetary policy operations. The bank’s current governor is Madis Müller, whose seven-year term ends next June. Kaasik’s candidature will need to be confirmed by Estonia’s president before he can take office.
