Denmark and Sweden should join eurozone, Finnish governor says
Scandinavian countries would benefit from cheaper infrastructure, says Olli Rehn
The Bank of Finland’s governor has said he would like to see Denmark and Sweden adopt the euro.
Olli Rehn said the Scandinavian countries’ central banks could gain more from joining the Eurosystem than they would lose, in a speech at the Trilateral Commission Nordic Seminar dinner on October 23.
These central banks already benefitted from being members of the Eurosystem’s Target instant payment system (Tips) network, Rehn said, but could not adopt the digital euro as easily as his own country.
