A clear majority of central banks task their heads of research/chief economists with the responsibility of giving final sign-off on research works, the Economics Benchmarks 2023 finds.
At 56.3% of 32 central bank respondents, the head of research/chief economist is responsible for the function. Economists have the job at 9.4% of institutions, the lowest in the dataset.
