Central banks rarely partner with the private sector to collaborate on research, but are likely to work on shared projects with academic institutions.
Almost all respondents to Economics Benchmarks 2020 said they worked with academics “often” or “sometimes” on shared research projects. But no central banks said they worked often with the private sector, and only four said they did so “sometimes”.
Falling in between, collaborations with government are widespread but are still notably less
