Lobbying softens regulatory treatment of distressed banks in US, paper finds
American banks that seek to influence politicians and regulators can expect more favourable regulatory treatment if their capital ratios fall below legislated minimums, a working paper published this month by the European Central Bank (ECB) suggests.
