Taiwan asks foreign traders to improve FX compliance

Central bank says it is considering new regulations amid currency speculation concerns

Taiwan’s central bank has asked some foreign investors to improve their compliance with its foreign exchange rules, and says it is considering new regulations amid concerns about currency speculation.

In a statement today, the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) said the island had recently seen large inflows of foreign capital. Some of this capital, it said, had not been invested in domestic securities, which went against local regulations.
