China allows its investors greater access to offshore bonds
PBoC ups quota as HKMA expands yuan funding and city begins trial run for gold clearing
Mainland Chinese investors will have greater access to offshore bond markets, the country’s central bank has announced, during an event at which Hong Kong also kicked off trial operations for its gold clearing system.
People’s Bank of China governor Pan Gongsheng announced the plans today (July 7) at a forum in Hong Kong, as the city’s de facto central bank said that its renminbi funding arrangements would also increase. Pan described the changes as a part of China’s drive to diversify yuan usage
