Czech National Bank employee arrested for alleged theft
Long-time central banker accused of misappropriating tens of millions of koruna
Police have arrested a Czech National Bank (CNB) employee, after he was accused of unauthorised handling of funds.
In its press release on the matter, the CNB confirmed the theft was investigated at the bank’s branch in Brno, near the Slovak border.
News outlet Around Prague reported that specialists at the CNB had begun gathering information on the employee around two months ago, after suspicious transactions on the man’s account were flagged.
