Tobias Adrian is to step down as financial counsellor and director of the International Monetary Fund’s capital markets department, with effect from August 31. Adrian, who took on the role in 2017, led the IMF’s work on financial sector surveillance, monetary and macro-prudential policy, digital finance, capital markets, and financial stability, including during the Covid 19 pandemic and the inflationary surge that followed Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
