Yi reappointed as PBOC governor

The Chinese parliament elected Yi Gang to a second term as governor of the People’s Bank of China (PBoC). He has served as governor since March 2018. Yi, who is well known in international circles, is a long-serving central bank official who was previously a vice-governor of the PBoC and director of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange. Observers had widely expected the Communist party leadership to replace Yi, who is now past the official retirement age
